The Pathology Fellowship is a year-long experience in both anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine as part of the fifth year enrichment program. Students are eligible to apply for the fellowship following Stage 1 of medical school. During the year the student has the opportunity to dissect surgical specimens, sign out cases with the pathology faculty, perform autopsies, attend fine needle aspirates, and observe the general functions of the clinical laboratory, rotating through all major sections (clinical chemistry, hematology/coagulation, microbiology, and transfusion medicine). Students will present at autopsy conferences, attend tumor boards, and participate in Laboratory Medicine lab rounds.
A stipend is attached to the fellowship.
Interested students should contact Dr. Melinda Sanders, Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
